How to Make Your Dish Washing Machine Last Longer?

According to a lot of manufacturers, a dishwasher should work at least for 10 years. But in reality, a lot of people will experience some kind of trouble or the dishwasher will stop working after just 5 years of usage, but mostly because of the reckless usage of the machine. So, how to make your dish washing machine last longer?

Scrape the Dishes

A lot of people just put their dirty dishes with solid items still on them like bones and even toothpicks. This is a bad habit since those solid items can clog the drain, tear the filter, and even damage the pump. So before you load your dirty dishes, make sure you scrape them first to make sure there are not solid items on them.

Clean the Filter Regularly

The food debris from your dirty dishes have to go somewhere and that place is the filter. If your dishwasher is not equipped with a grinder, then you have to manually clean your dish washing machine’s filter once in a while. If the filter is filled with food debris such as seeds or little bones, it could damage the pump and motor seals and when this happens, it would be expensive to repair.

Don’t Overload

Sometimes you just had a party or people coming over, and there are so many dirty dishes and you want to get them clean at once. But putting too many items inside your dishwasher could damage it. This is because in order to work properly, the water jets need enough room and without it, your dishes wouldn’t be cleaned properly. When your dishes aren’t clean properly, you repeat the process, and this will obviously decrease the lifespan of your dish washing machine.
